Red Drum, Redfish, Puppy Drum (it’s the same fish) they are always biting somewhere in their habitat and you don’t have to go out into the breakers to catch them. There’s nothing like watch 300 come swimming at your boat in 10 inches of water all at once. They fight great and have a great range in size.
My favorite species to fish for, depends on what happens to be biting, at the time & location, that i happen to be fishing
yes bronceback’s are king as long as you have them around and they come in a good size. Otherwise a 25 pound chinook on 12 pound line is nothing to sneeze at.
freshwater- largemouth, smallmouth, and pike(pickerel)..-these fish put up a fight
saltwater- fluke or bluefish, but striped bass are the best to eat
Steelhead and brown trout
redfish for sure they fight like champs and will strip your spool in no time.
salt water- red fish…. or flounder
fresh water- big ole catfish fellas
Whatever is swimming in the waters I’m fishing at the time is my favorite. I just love to fish.
If I absolutely, positively had to make a choice, I’d go with Atlantic salmon on a fly. Not so much because they’re more sporting than other fish, but because everything about fishing for Atlantics is an adventure.
Speckled Trout in the river/sound area.
King Mackerel in the ocean.
Rainbow trout in the smoky mountains streams of tennessee.
I love smallmouth bass also. I get a lot of northern and walleyes too witch are fun.
My favorite species..hmm… I really enjoy catching largemouth, bream, crappie, catfish, drum, gar, and carp. The largemouth is fun because they jump sometimes. The bream are easy to catch and for their size are a hard fighting fish, lots of fun. Catfish, well, sometimes a good day on the water is just what the doctor ordered, and they get to be some impressive size. Drum fight hard, and get to be good sized, usually getting them in a fast current making it more challenging to get them to the bank. Gar, well they are awesome fighters, and its hard to get them in w/o them cutting the line. Carp is perhaps the hardest fighting fish I have ever encountered in all the years of fishing. They get big, don’t give up, and are extremely powerful! No matter what, I always have fun on the water! So have fun!
If it has fins, it’s OK with me. However, if I ever find somebody with the saltwater equivalent of a bass boat, I’d like to try large bluefish, 7 to 10 lbs, on a fly rod. I’d need the fast boat to keep a little backer on the reel.
Salmon (Atlantic and chinook) then trout, steelhead and tarpon. All on a fly rod.
