The color of the bait depends on the color of the water. Natural colors like brown, and green are best for ultra clear water. The murkier the water the brighter the color lure. This time of year top water lures, spinners, and crank bait is good. Anything fast. Fast, shallow lures for warmer water, slower, deep diving baits (like worms) for cold water.
Rapala Shad Rap
Firetiger or black and silver
don’t know about bass,, but walleye likes yellow lures and drop the lure to the bottom and then draw it up quick and short. let it drop again and let it drop again..
.
well the color of the water does have to do with what selection of lure to use but also the color of the minnows and baitfish that fish prey upon should have an even bigger influence…colors like silver, yellow, and blackish tend to work well. try using a small yellow 1/8 oz single blade spinnerbait. that will definately trigger all the species mentioned above. plastic worms that are scented between 4” and 8” should work well (try using a dark color like black or puple) and fish them slowly unless you are using a weight. Rapalas will work well for all 3 of these species as well…I recomment using a “perch” colored rapala that is like 4-6” that will get your engine started. hope I could help and hope you catch many fish!
On clear and spring fed lakes, use black and gold on sunny days, and black and silver on overcast days or after dark.
