I bet the fish were first. Matter of survival. Interesting thought though.

People starting piercing fish before they started piercing themselves OR vice versa?

  • cabritorsss:

I wouldn’t eat anything from that lake. I was raised in that area and just thinking about all the treated and untreated sewar sludge from both sides of the border that flow into the river is disgusting. As a younger men, my friends and myself enjoyed shooting gar with .22′s though. We used the gar to feed hogs.

My top rig for this lake is a 6″ senko BlRed with a 5/8 painted black brass bullet wt. The hook a 4/O Gamakatsu super line tied with power pro 30 or 50 lb green. my fav all around rig.

First, braid is much smaller diameter, so you can use 50 lb braid that is around the same diameter as 10-12 lb mono, so may as well use it and not worry about the line snapping.
Second, when going for big bass that fight hard, a 4lb bass can break 10 lb test which is why it is suggested to stick with around 15-20 lb test line. I myself use 15 lb Pline CX and have never had a line break on bigger fish, even pike, 3 foot long turtle and catfish.

Yes i am not saying i wouldnt in a tourny , but when filming a show or just out for fun, they all use overkill line weights. I was watching a show on versus and they guy was fishing for red fish and said he was going “light line fishing.” even though the guy he was fishing with asked him what he was using and the host said he was using 50 pound braided line. Thats over kill, red fish can get big but not where they were. The fish were 10-15 pounds.

Paintball, There is not $100,000 dollars on the line when you go fishing with your 6 pound line. Kevin Vandam AKA The best angler in history, once said to use the heaviest line you can get away with without negatively affecting the action of the bait, or allowing the fish to see it.

  • paintball227:

scared to use anything under 15 lb test line. what a joke. Thats just muscling them in. i use 6 pound test on steelhead twice the lenght. most all pros use line that is just over kill for the fish they are going for.
