Fishing the Port Mayaca Locks Lake Okeechobee Florida?

Is the fishing any good by land around those locks? Catfish or bass or crappie? Not the lake side.

  • Roger W:

Fishing at the Port Mayaca Lock, can be great, especially, when the lake water is being discharged

  • JustAsking:

How about fishing or how about fly fishing for bass is that o,k with you?

  • stop_makin_cents:

    I agree with Roger!

During the rainy season, when they open the locks to expel run-off water the fishing can be amazing.

Unfortunatly, Dec-Feb is not the rainy season.

BUT, you can still catch fish (Bass, Cats, ‘Gills), just not 20 an hour!
