florida bass fishing when windy?
What are some god techniques to consider wen fishing while windy. Is it recomonded to fish in this type of conditions and how much harder is it to catch them. Bright sunny day in the high 60′s here in florida its just very windy. Any suggestions.? thanks

There are a couple good things about the wind.
#1.) If the clarity of the water you fish is very CLEAR a nice wind will mask your presence.
#2.) Wind creates O2 AND pushes baitfish/forage to the windy side of the lake. Lower levels of O2 in a lake during the Winter make baitfish happily travel to the windy side of a lake or pond.
However, if the wind is out of the North following a cold front, fish will “hide” from it by traveling to the North West/West corner of the lake/pond. In this instance fishing on the windy side would not be productive or practical. You would want to find a nice inlet or bay with NO WIND in the hopes you might catch some Bass warming up in the Sun.
Generally, fishing in the wind is usually more of an issue with fishermen than fish, (due to boat & line control).
Hope this gives you a better understanding of wind? Good fishing!
Lets get down to the question. Some good techniques for fishing a windy day. You can use spinners, and soft top water lures (frogs, mice, ect..) If your going for bass that is, if your going for catfish, then fish on bottom. You can use a bell and it still works just as well despite the wind. Get out and enjoy, after all a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work.
I like spinner baits on windy days, mostly early and late, but wind allows for all day success. Fish all the structure and cover you can!
I think the wind associated with a front will change the basic patterns as explained above but lets say it’s just the wind and no front behind it. the wind wakes fog out the shorelines clarity so I look where the water is still clear nearest to the stained water the wind kicked up and I start always on the side of the lake where the wind is blowing in from. (facing the wind) I also shorten the leader and use a smaller (finesse) bait usually 3, 4 or 5″ worms and I doodle around stick ups and on weed lines if nothing in (semi) close I look for rock piles just off shore hopefully associated to drop offs and shallow still facing the wind and I drop spoons and needle fish. Since the sun is in the southern sky at mid day I cant fish the north end of the lake at noon my shadow is in the water I’m targeting so the north end I save for dawn and dusk!
