Is a small boat boat worth it for fishing South Florida canals?

I was thinking about getting a Basstender 10.2 boat with a small outboard/trolling motor. It has 2 swivel seats and an aerated livewell. My friend were thinking it would be a good rig for catch some bass/tarpon/snook in our local canals. We would buy used off of craigslist. Do you think this is a good idea? Advice? Thanks.
