I was in the same boat as you a while back ha. Im a bass guy but done some saltwater fishing on family vacations ect. Theres a lot of piers around beaches like these and they’re a lot of fun to fish off of. Everytime I have gone I’ve used squid and just rented a pole for a day. Id spend about 20 bucks on the pole rental and squid, not bad.

I caught a lot of stuff but i couldnt tell you what they were. I do remember one common fish that people were catching that was called a kroker. They were about 12 inches long and put up a decent fight. They were fun to catch anyways.

Unless you have a heavy duty flipping rod with about 20 pound line for bass i wouldnt reccomend bringing it for the pier fishing. I packed my normal bass gear which was one 6’5 ft baitcasting rod with 14 pound line and a spincast with 10 pound line, they couldnt hold up to say the least ha. The rigs that people used off the pier were very heavy. They had 2 1/2 ounce weights and 2 hooks. You’ll be better off renting gear for a day or 2. Theyll replace your rigs for free when doing this.

Trout, red fish, black drum, tarpon, snook…it has a lot to do with what type of fishing you’re doing–Inshore? Offshore?

No snook that far North but

    Seatrout
    Redfish
    Black Drum
    Ladyfish
    Catfish
    Pinfish
    Sharks
    and others
