if its a canal that near saltwater or brackish water it could be young snook and if its not snook it could be the Beautiful peacock bass my favorite fish, they hit most lures bass hit except for worms no peacock bass will hit a worm unless its protecting its nest and you piss it off with the worm and peacocks love quicker bait than what largemouth bass will go for and if you have top water poppers or similar lures use those also. good luck bro.
